Dallas County: Sandbranch

Postby itsjrd1964 » 01 Aug 2020 14:05

Sandbranch is an unincorporated neighborhood in SE Dallas County, off of Belt Line Road near its Trinity River crossing. Amazingly, this area has been around 142 years--and still has no running water. For now, volunteers and a local church have been helping residents with bottled water and donations of food.

The residents choose to live there because they don't have to follow city building codes, follow city laws or pay city taxes. But they want city services -- just as long as they don't have to pay for them.

I would be interested to know more about this neighborhood. I can't imagine the residents of one of the poorest areas in Dallas are clinging to their lax building codes at the expense of running water.
