Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

I must have missed this earlier. The concept doesn’t sound as ominous as the headline implies. 2600 Main St. has been empty, nearly derelict, forever. Now we get some bowling lanes and punch bowl cocktails. Another hang out for the Bottled Blonde crowd, but it all adds to the critical mass for DE. A...

I agree with Jon Anderson of Candy's Dirt - The East Quarter needs people, and given the prime location between Farmers Market, Deep Ellum and the rest of the CBD, it should be developed as the most densely populated pocket in the CBD Are there development sites available? I like the unconventional offerings. That is what it will take to get the Uptownees to brave a trip across Field St. to come here.

That said, I hope we see a few more conventional offerings for the residents and the AAC crowd. I’d like to see Snuffer’s, Torchy Taco and Flying Fish to name a few.

The State Thomas level of development went on for a decade before we got high rise Uptownification. With that as my guide, I foresee the State Thomasificatio...

Very little fanfare preceeded No.10 as well. Harwood obviously has sufficient access to capital these days, that promoting its projects is not necessary—perhaps it’s even a negative that alerts competitors to what is planned. The rationale for a hotel seems pretty clear. Harwood is becoming its own ...

Can the City close one more block of Akard and create a pedestrian connection from AT&T to City Hall Plaza? That would make for a nice, large, contiguous open space.

My pitch to the City would be that City employees could walk to AT&T for lunch.

I thought that was a very interesting observation in the article. What I think they mean is that there are a limited number of development sites remaining in Uptown. As a result demand is driving prices upwards (i.e. “appreciation”). Good news if you are an owner. It’s a new phenomenon for Dallas.
