Re: Knox: The Katy

Since a lot of businesses use that parking lot I will have to ask around if someone knows anything. Bardot Place keeps stopping work on their weird second story space. I can not quite figure out what the final result of that one will be since it doesn't show patios in the current construction. see ...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Tower Petroleum - The Saint Elm Hotel (1907 Elm) & Corrigan Tower (1900 Pacific)

Yes just what we need is more empty venues. Like the struggles with the Majestic isn't hard enough. Most of all those theaters held way too many seats to work in today's market except if we were the center of the entertainment universe and that takes a lot more than a few dozen theaters in a row. I...

Re: Deep Ellum: Epic ~ Knights of Pythias Temple

I drove by this site two days ago and it is indeed full steam ahead. There was a full complement of earth moving equipment digging up dirt and hauling it away. I'd say parts of the site already had 20-25 foot excavations. This will certainly fill a massive void between DTD and Deep Ellum as well as ...

Re: Demolished (and about to be) Properties 2.0

yep ^. I'm not saddened by it. I had a feeling it would go down after languishing for years on the market and taking price chop after price chop. I'd rather see a Larry Boerder or Wilson Fuqua home there anyday. I do lament when truly architecturally significant structures are torn down- whether a H...

Re: Demolished (and about to be) Properties 2.0

not that this "Pink Palace" is an architectural gem in any way, but Mary Kay Ash's former home is being torn down today to make way for another mansion. It's no surprise as the house has no no real architectural value in it's outdated nouveau classic design. (I'm glad patrons have embraced...

Re: Highland Park Village

HPVillage.jpg great find! it's the least appealing part of the center. The Washburne's have done a great job with this center. I only wish they would reduce parking and take out some of the asphalt within the shopping area. Even with fairly new trees you sometimes see a cavalcade of cars that detra...

I was surprised to see that Ikea GP already has a triple facing sign in there yellow font/blue background up already. It's at PGBT and 30. Hopefully no one is mislead into thinking it's open already and finds a half finished shell of a structure instead.

[quote="lakewoodhobo"]The model unit looks great. Remember when they said this would never work because of the low ceilings.

It does looks great and I'm glad this project has worked out so well. They just need to add full height drapery to elongate the short windows.

Has anyone seen The Lorenzo in the Cedars? It has vertical running lights- a la Dallas lightning expectations! My friend captured a short video clip, but all I could upload was a snapshot. It was changing from white to fushia.

I just take an interest in retail and urban development. I don't work in either. The shuffling at NorthPark just intrigues me for some reason. lol Good to know. I was curious and meaning to ask. It is intriguing and somewhat of a measure of a city's "status" when all the world's renown la...

Re: Northpark Center

I agree with Tamtagon. I don't understand the desire to make NP a luxury center devoted only to top tier luxury tenants. A mall of it's size rarely is able to work without these common, everyday stores. Only small centers like HPV, Bal Harbour Shops, Americana at Manhasset, et al can operate that wa...

anyone else super disappointed with The Centrum update? it looks like it was done on the cheap. Paint the ivory color cream and replace the pink granite with grey painted column bases finished in more stucco. And worse- Mattito's gets to keep it's less than first rate picnic patio. :x

That's an amazing plan! It would be great to see it come to fruition. I've thought and considered how Dallas can become a more appealing city in the eyes of visitors, tourist and its residents. Certainly we can't conjure hills and lakes and shore-front to happen ever, but I've wondered why there has...
