Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

Looks like Kabuki Japanese has been removed from the site plan for the Irving Music Factory. They were one of the first tenants to sign on. I'm actually okay with this, opens up a nice spot for another quality tenant. No problem for me either. Irving has absolutely no shortage of Asian or Indian re...

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

What retail is coming to these developments? Not only has the bar/restaurant scene in Irving been pretty lousy, so is the retail scene. With the death (an yes, it is a dead mall) of Irving mall, there seems to be very few major retailers with locations in Irving. With so many things going for Irving...

I like it to and am surprised by all the hate. I think it looks great.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Retail

I have never had the impression that the very expensive retailers in downtown Dallas were intended to be marketed to/shopped by office workers or local residents even. I always assumed they were there for the tourists (both international and from both East and West Texas) who fill up the hotel room...

Re: Thanksgiving Tower Curb Relocation

A couple other comments... For those talking about how busy the neighborhood is doing right now: Yes, it's doing much better. But it's still not nearly as busy as it was in the early 2000's. Not even close. I frequented Deep Ellum in the early 2000's and the area was booming...at night. During the ...

Re: Thanksgiving Tower Curb Relocation

First complaint I've heard about Elm. I see lots of new businesses in the neighborhood --and not just clubs, but a variety of retail--new residential, and new investments in rehabbing the old buildings. With all of that, I see many more people who come to the neighborhood to walk around and do stuf...

Am I wrong, that as a new(ish) Irving resident I care nothing about this radio show moving to IMF? I honestly didn't think anyone listened to radio shows very much anymore and isn't terrestrial radio a dying medium?

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

I wouldn't pin it on 'apartments' in general, but more the quality of apartments, and ensuring their use suits the area. I know 'garden' apartments were all the rage when Irving was expanding and as such that's what we have to live with. They've aged horribly for the most part. Putting more focus o...

None of those retailers would be a big loss, plus that garage and that retail looks awful.

I'm not surprised. It never seemed to do a great business there and that location was a little off.

Re: Collin Creek Mall

Macys will soon close, leaving only Sears, JC Penny, and Amazing Jakes as the anchors. That really puts this place on life support. Can't believe Macy's is closing this store and keeping the store in Irving Mall open. I used to imagine a redevelopment of both of these malls could be a pedestrian fr...

So there will be now retail components here at all? I'm not too upset if there isn't as I'm just so glad to see this building come to life again.

Re: New condo construction

Well our highrise/midrise condo development may be lagging, but Dallas' embrace of the urban townhome should be acknowledged. Townhomes have totally transformed some of Dallas' neighborhoods and they seem to be selling as quickly as they're built. I was in east Dallas a few weeks ago, around the Fit...

Re: Harwood District: Blue Ciel

I went to Southlake this weekend and noticed a sign advertising Blue Ciel off 114 near the airport. It said something like "stop commuting". I wonder if a ad like that will help the building attract buyers.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Couryard by Marriot -12 Stories

I've never seen a Courtyard Marrriot look like this. They're usually pretty understated (and I might add, one of my favorite hotel chains) This is just ugly. Hopefully it will be altered by the time it's completed.

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

Okay muncien, I have an answer for you. I emailed the leasing agent for the Las Colinas Village shopping center to see if he had an idea. He was kind enough to reply back right away. He said a hotel will be going up on that site. I wonder what brand it will be. A hotel seems like an odd choice here...

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

Modern Market is very good. Pollo is terrible. I did try Pollo, I wouldn't call it terrible, but it definitely did not blow me away and I have no desire to go back. How much space is left in this shopping center? Modern Market and Zoe's Kitchen are good additions, but the rest of the tenant lineup ...

Right now, it seems like Modern Market is doing very well. Haven't tried it yet.

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

Looks like work may have finally started again at the Whole Foods Store. A construction trailer and several of those big metal containers have been parked next to the store. And the parking lot in front of the store has been fenced off.
