Looks like the first order of business after Houston-based El Super acquired Fiesta Mart was to close a few stores. Over the weekend I noticed that Fiesta on Hampton and Singleton shut down. This is concerning for West Dallas which is extremely underserved by grocery chains.

They had some technical difficulties on Tuesday, maybe weather related, but the blade sign is now in place. Hope it looks good lit up at night.

The one thing the downtown area park initiative continues to lack is a linear mobility-park, specific example is Harwood Street from Katy Trail to Old City Park. I don't expect Parks for Downtown to care about Old City Park or the Katy Trail, but I do hope that once the new downtown parks are done ...

Remove the Olive cutoff and Pacific Plaza pocket park and there's area for new development. ^Another thing to consider is that this building is 374,000 sqft but Amazon said it wanted about 500,000 for its first phase. Maybe this checks the box for being in the range of square footage or maybe it doesn't because it falls short.

Not the most exciting update, but the fact that they've selected an architect for West End Plaza is a big step forward. They've always said that this project could be done quickly and at the same time as one of the other new parks, so who knows.

I would think that there are enough residents nearby to support a grab-and-go, bodega or wine bar type of business here, but I won't pretend like the small and poorly lit sidewalks in that stretch of Cedar Springs invite pedestrians.
