Re: Uptown Dallas: Business Openings and Closings

Not the normal business opening posted here, but there's a Primrose daycare / pre-school in-progress at Uptown side of North St. Paul Street and Woodall Rogers near KWP. I take this as a very encouraging sign of the maturity and development of Uptown and the CBD / greater Downtown in general. Busine...

Re: Uptown: Luxury Hotel, 2025 Cedar Springs (Pizza Hut Strip Mall)

Haven't heard anything thus far. Bit of a tangent, but applicable to this, what is going on with Dallas' hotel scene right now? Currently, the following projects are (fairly reliably) in the works: - Pittman Hotel (Kimpton) as part of The Epic - Virgin Hotel in the Design District - Mandarin Orienta...

Re: Uptown Dallas: 1899 McKinney (McKinney/Akard/St. Paul Triangle)

This morning I noticed that the parking meters on this block of Akard had been covered with "Permit Only" bags. Wonder if we'll start seeing demolition of the current building soon. I can't imagine construction taking too long to start given 100% pre-lease for 10 years...

Design District: Urby High-rise Apartments

A New Jersey developer that has major projects in the New York metro area plans to build a high-rise residential building in Dallas’ Design District. Urby – a unit of Hoboken-based Ironstate Development Co. – is working on the luxury rental project on HiLine Drive near Turtle Creek Boulevard. The t...

Re: Uptown Dallas: McKinney/Boll Tower - 2614 McKinney Ave - (18 ST)

While I agree that this is not some big improvement worthy of an "atta boy," I don't think it'll do too much to hinder the pedestrian experience here. There shouldn't be a constant flow of car traffic in/out of this driveway. Even if there was decent traffic, you experience plenty of this ...

Re: Uptown Dallas: Central Market at McKinney and Lemmon

Did they say what was taking so long? Obviously we're all impatient about any construction but this one does seem to be taking a bit longer than normal. My guess is it has to do with the intricacies of planning a very different type of store for CM than their other locations.

Having been to both, Loro and Niwa are two entirely different things / concepts. Loro is more of an American BBQ with Asian flavors. Niwa is more a traditional Japanese style BBQ, but not remotely BBQ in the American sense of the word. I'd think they'd have very little true overlap.

In one of the Rail/Transportation threads, it looked as if the entrance to the D2 subway had been shifted to allow development on this site, so maybe the rail won't be cutting through it.
