If a downtown business doesn't have convenient parking then it's not catering to me -- and I live less than half a mile outside the loop. Parking isn't for "Frisco or Weatherford", it's for Lakewood and Lake Highlands. If you make it inconvenient for those people they have plenty of option...

I don't know about you, but when I spend $800 million for a building I usually try not to screw it up too badly in the first year. :)

It sounds like the addition is to for physical plant, so it logically would be out of the way visually.

I was surprised by that $15-$20 million figure. In the past I've seen figures of around $100 million. But ignoring that, $15-20 just sounds too low to be reasonable. It would probably cost that much to build a barebones ground-level station. As for the neighborhood opposition, I doubt it has changed...

^ I just checked the travel time from Deep Ellum to the intersection of DNT and Oak Lawn Avenue, using Google maps. Three minutes faster using 366-35E-DNT than surface streets.

One little known part of this project: The entrance from northbound 35E to the DNT will be moved south of Spur 366 (Woodall Rodgers). There will no longer be direct freeway access from westbound 366 to the DNT -- you'll have to cut through Uptown on Pearl or Griffin.

The LTV/Crow tower had similar lighting. Much better in theory than in practice. Unless the weather was foggy or misty it wasn't very visible. Our air is too clean. :-)

I have a piece by sculptor Eben Lee Hall who used to live in the Ervay Theater. He called his gallery The Ruby Works. That was around 2000. It was a really cool space. The Velvet Curtain used to lease it from him for their "parties".
