Isn't the change in Deep Ellum just more of a sign of the changing times, more than anything? The whole grunge/metal/punk rock thing isn't as popular as it was back in the 90s, so Deep Ellum today is just a reflection on how society has changed.

Isn't it likely that the empty lot next to it will eventually be re-developed into something, which would completely block whatever they do with that wall? Who knows when that will happen, so we are stuck with the blank wall for now, but it's not exactly in a promiment location as it is.

I'm quite shocked. About a year or so ago, I was convinced that development in Austin was nearing its peak and that DFW will emerge as the true Texas powerhouse.

I do still think that 'tipping point' will occur, but I underestimated how much steam Austin would have left in its local economy.

So it turns out this is a commercial tower?

Seems like office towers are better for the nightlife areas, as these buildings will be mostly empty come Fri/Sat night, so no complaints from them.
