Very true. Walking around busy Manhattan at 2:00 AM feels a whole lot safer than doing so in any deserted neighborhood, urban or suburban.

I imagine for a lot of the pioneers who took a chance on moving into the Farmer's Market area, this development (the tower and also the EQ in general) is a sign of that gamble paying off.

It wouldn't be a cure all for sure, but I do happen to agree that closing the tunnels in order to force the retail and foot traffic to the streets is a good thing.

For what it's worth, every non-Dallasite (friends, visitors, work colleagues, etc) I've ever spoke to thought Uptown, LoMac, Victory, Deep Ellum, etc were all part of Downtown.
