Re: What were they thinking?

If ours were any indication, property tax collections must be headed WAY up! hahaha In all seriousness, with the rate at which the city is gentrifying, in a variety of areas (East Dallas, south/Oak Cliff, West Dallas, etc), it sure seems like the city's future is bright.

For sure, assuming the towers end up actually looking like the renderings (where Harwood usually falls down), this would be way better than any Harwood project so far.

Re: Oak Lawn

Walked by the Melrose this afternoon and took a pic through the parking lot fence of the conference center expansion. Can’t find any external renderings to see what it was supposed to look like, but so far it has all the charm of a value-engineered suburban strip center grocery store. Funny, I had ...

I don’t know much about real estate and that sector, but with all these new projects, specifically the residential aspect of it, will this suppress rent value or inflate rent cost. I would ...

Is it just me or is the final product going to be a considerable deviation from the final renderings that were published? It doesn’t look like the horizontal/vertical ledges are there and will be mainly a glass exterior. Maybe I’m way off. No, you're right. This is not at all the same building as i...

The way they're doing the Henderson reconstruction is pretty dumb. There are spots where they've rebuilt the sidewalks as many as three times now. They should have started by rebuilding the roadway and then built the sidewalks and cosmetic stuff. Oh well, at least the project's wrapping up soon.

I agree with Ace that Dallas needs to support its police. My hope was that Dallas would buck the trend of other cities and invest in public safe...

That's what it seemed like to me. The Stemmons corridor was the hot new area but as people, development, and tenants moved north, it stagnated.

Hopefully with the growth of the Design District and the eventual reconstruction of Stemmons, that the Stemmons corridor would experience a rebirth.

Poor pedestrian infrastructure is partly why the scooters are such an issue. According to the Downtown Residents FB group, people riding the scooters on sidewalks are "terrorizing" pedestrians and in several instances, running over their dogs.
