Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

This local CBS station 'news'report is ridiculous. I'd love to know who signed-off on this one. "Ooh lots of people on the street after dark--be very afraid." As many of you have stated, urban vibrancy is exactly what is needed. Stories like this are, I truly hope, the last vestige of 'old...

Re: Arts District: Flora & Olive Tower (~441 FT / ~39 ST)

A spokesperson @ ZOM in Miami replied to an email inquiry that I made last month that construction on the project would be underway by July . Who knows....We've all been around the block with this one for years now. I hope this moves forward soon. Did they say what year? ;-) (Just asking, because l...

Hey guys I apologize for being so curt with my "Who gives a shit" remark. I have no real excuse for being a temporary jerk--it was just a terrible day, I saw the umpteenth comment on MT and just let fly. A lot of people do give a shit and I'm sure others probably don't but rudeness is neve...

Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

I think some of you guys are may be writing this one off too soon. Yes it's clusterfuck so far but I don't see how Dallas let's this one crash and burn. As the largest single re-development project currently underway downtown, the bad PR from this possible foreclosure + Trump threatening to do away ...

Re: Knox: Oliver + Central (18 ST)

OK. I just stopped by the construction site and spoke with Mike, the Construction Manager (there were a number of men in and out of the construction trailer complex) and they are indeed beginning the project. He also mentioned a project in Lakewood and the 40-story apartment tower in downtown Fort W...

Re: Arts District: Flora & Olive Tower (~460 FT / 42 ST)

Thank you for posting. We've all waited a long time for this one. Never understood what the hold up was given that apparently the money was all in place and the city had signed off on everything months ago. I just hope it actually ends up looking like the renderings we have seen. You know how this g...

You won't recognize the Design District in 5 years. 3 new hotels, at least one office building, and several additional 20-30 story apartment towers on the way.

Re: Uptown Dallas: Dream Hotel

Well they must have some money. A July 18th DBJ article by Candace Carlisle discusses another of their local projects. At a recent Flower Mound EDC meeting the Director announced Dream Hotel's first North Texas facility, a 5-story project in the rapidly-expanding Lakeside DFW district--to operate un...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

The Overdog is right on this. I've seen them all over the country, including NTX with different design built new or in existing structures in adaptive re-use sites. The problem all over Dallas and many of the suburbs here is that neither city officials nor residents require anything of these develop...

Re: Shraman South Asian Museum

Some of you may not remember that a year or so ago the museum selected Cesar Pelli's Pelli Clarke Pelli firm to design the Shraman and the mixed-use development it will be a part of. As I understand it, IF the entire project is still a go, then the tower part is to be 40 stories. Perhaps, and it wou...

Re: Arts District: 1900 Pearl (362 FT | 25 ST)

Cheap cheap cheap. Typical Lincoln Properties. A barely-glorified version of the suburban junk they built in the 80's, 90's. What a waste of an important location.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Scion Hotel

John McKee is IMHO correct on this. I remember well Trump's 40-50 story hotel condo project proposal 'announced' a week prior to his keynote address at the real estate conference. Nothing ever followed. Likewise in Tampa Bay (my other home) he announced a 52 story hotel condo there in downtown Tampa...
