Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

Thanks for the update and agree with you both. The NIMBYism down here is annoying. I’ve been anxiously awaiting that development and think it will be a great addition to the neighborhood. There is a reason we chose to buy in the city as opposed to the burbs. Little extra noise and traffic is a part ...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

That makes sense. I looked back at the plans and was bummed to see the road surface is going to be asphalt, rather than concrete. Agreed. It needs a concrete resurfacing! How come? Two reasons for me. First is the heat impact as noted above. Asphalt traps more heat and is not as pedestrian friendly...

Re: Lower Greenville Development

I think you're right, unfortunately. The rumor already was that it was a rezone-and-flip but without buyers, this (much less desirable outcome) isn't happening either anytime soon. The additional unfortunate thing is that the property owners are making/paying for some of the improvements on henders...

Re: Lower Greenville Development

^^ Definitely a valid concern (e.g., the "Hole on Cole," Hall's "stonehenge," etc...). On the bright side I would be surprised if Henderson Ave's reconstruction stopped this close to its finish line considering they should start rebuilding the road surface itself in the next few...

Re: Lower Greenville Development

The more apartments in this neighborhood, the more people to spend money at the restaurants on Greenville Ave. i hear all the time about how the restaurants really believe that there isn’t enough parking on Greenville...seems like more apartments in walking distance is a good way to ensure a custom...

Re: Lower Greenville Development

My biggest problem with Blewett and all the other hypocrites on the council is they have no problem saying yes to mid rise buildings as long as it's not in their district. Can't have it both ways If it's allowed in the existing zoning. Couldn't agree more. The NIMBYism down here is frustrating. The...

Re: East Dallas: Kroger

Kinda shocked that this is moving forward after Tom Thumb staked their claim. We keep hearing about the terrible margins in the grocery business, but here comes Kroger wanting to compete for even smaller crumbs in a crowded area. Especially with the Kroger Fresh Fare at Cityplace literally half a m...

Re: Most Exciting Projects of 2020

Mine: 1. Henderson Avenue--all of it 2. The Epic 3. East Quarter 4. Continued street activation in Victory Park 5. All the hotel construction in Uptown and what that will mean for street life 6. Weirs mixed use in Knox Mine is very similar, mainly because most of these are tied to street activation...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

It doesn't seem so. Hopefully it's just that their redesign process is taking longer than expected, but I could also see them waiting until summer when Henderson Ave is finished, delaying things even more. That is my worry as well. As much as I’ve enjoyed the street redevelopment picking up steam, ...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

Let’s Check In on That Planned Mixed-Use Development on Henderson Ave. Construction is now slated to begin at the end of 2019, about a full year after the initial plans. https://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2019/07/lets-check-in-on-that-planned-mixed-use-development-on-henderson-ave/ Any word on t...

Re: Lower Greenville Development

Yeah, the business may not be appealing to the majority of people who are nearby and even those people expect to park their giant SUVs in limited parking and go home right after. When is the parking the tightest for which customers? Are the bar nighttime crowd pushing out available parking for the ...

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

I definitely have higher hopes for the pub, especially if it turns into a legitimate neighborhood spot to watch soccer. We'll see about 77 degrees, Dallas just seems to cycle through hot spots like that fairly quickly.

Re: Henderson Avenue Corridor

Walked by a few times this weekend and just find everything about it obnoxious. Still have hope for the pub concept downstairs, but feel like that market point is already well served by the Old Monk and Skellig on this strip. Don't see this place lasting at all. It will have a nice flurry of people ...

This will be practically in my backyard, and I also booked a vacation to Barcelona two days ago. How serendipitous. Flew back from Barcelona after two weeks in Spain last night while thinking about how awesome it would be to have one of these in our neighborhood here in Dallas. Wake up to see this ...

Also, is it just me, or does the city's rebuild of the street already seem way behind schedule? When they kicked off at in the spring, it was supposed to be done in 4 ph...
