N Lamar Street is what is holding back the West End. That’s where the traffic counts are highest, but the scenery is mostly empty buildings, dead storefronts and surface lots. This is a beautiful site and I wish them success, but is this a good location for business travelers? No office centers or restaurant/retail concentrations, unlike Uptown or Ross Ave. Maybe they draw a different customer?

The Grassy Knoll, Sixth Floor, Holocaust Museum, Old Red and Aquarium are here, and it’s catty-corner from the Perot...the West End is already a destination for families and tourists. It’s a logical site for the Museum of Illusions. Millennials and Urban Sophisticates have plenty of other playground...

The DD has an oppertunity like few other to create an awesome little network of pedestrian alley ways that link various business/resturaunts/lofts etc., if they repurpose their network of former rail right of ways. They tore down the part of the building that held the Stark Club. It appeared to be a later addition to the original structure.

The building is wedged between Woodall and Continental. They need to do something to get a walking connection to VP and the West End.

Looks like big video board should be visible part of the way up N Akard toward Main and Elm—will be a beacon that will pull people toward the new plaza.

I still think the Farmers Market has sufficient mass to support a few local bars and restaurants. Look at how much stuff is in the Design District. Many more people live in the Farmers Market than live over there.

Huge state tax advantages to Uber if they move the HQ here, and to the C level people. So it could happen eventually. This may have been a factor for McKesson.

And KDC appears to be on a hot streak—Toyota, State Farm, Liberty Mutual, etc. and now this. They built the Epic on spec, so they get extra credit for this one. I wonder if they played a role in recruiting Uber to Dallas, or if Uber selected Dallas first then KDC.

It would be nice to see this architectural style continue in other new projects all the way down to Old Parkland and all the way up to Lemmon, giving the street a consistent 1920s feel and incorporating the historical buildings. The project on the Esquire site already fits the bill.

Was in DE on Saturday night—lots of people but very few of the bars were full. I am wondering if we have reached the saturation point for bars, such that the new spaces will need to seek other types of tenants to succeed.
