Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

I think the exposure from Alamo Draft House will help significantly. That will easily bring in crowds that otherwise wouldn't know about Big Beat. They were also working hard yesterday (I walked thru at lunch time) to build out those two outdoor bars that interact with the main stage. Texans love t...

Re: Southwest Airlines

Rumor mill says that we (SWA) have to pay DART fees to use the air above the DART tracks. The bridges are also oddly angled because they have to cross the tracks at 90 degree angles. I don't know about DART, but there's a lease paid to the City of Dallas for the air rights over Denton Drive. The od...

Re: I-345

Also its a game of who gets their project built first. TXDOT will take into account the likelihood that DART will get D2 built before TXDOT gets funding for a highway rebuild. Certain Parties were pushing for D2 to be subway in the vicinity of 345 so it would effectively poison the well against any...

Re: DFW Airport

Do you expect them to take a poll of all the passengers on the plane to see where the majority of them parked? No of course not, but flight pairs to specific airports (for example LAX) could take off and land from the same terminal. Would that really be that difficult to implement? In all probabili...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

If they are considering places like Boston, NYC, San Francisco, I honestly don't think Texas has a chance. I guess it comes down to what they want. Texas can provide a lot of economical advantages, but if they are looking to be in the heart of a big city, then most of those other cities would be a ...

Re: DFW Airport

You NEVER return to the same terminal you left from. NEVER. I have before and returned to the same terminal actually, but fair enough. A quick check shows it's about 10% into the same terminal - mine was a unicorn. I think that would be better fixed by changing AA procedures to be more customer fri...

Re: DFW Airport

There's enough land to have both, right? Americans airport infrastructure has fallen a generation behind the rest of the world, so it could be exceptionally AAdvantageous to repurpose one or parts of more of the terminals into shopping mall, office, meeting, luxury resort spa.... and a new terminal...

Re: Downtown Dallas: AMLI Fountain Place (562 FT / 46 ST)

Is this (potentially) the tallest residential tower in Dallas? I think The Drever and Gables Republic are both taller. Gables republic is shorter if you don't include the spire. It has 35 floors, I believe. Not to start an argument over total height vs. habitable height :P The Drever is taller than...

Re: DART D2 Subway

The current three options are new(ish), only coming around in the last year or so, since the big dust-up about financing D2 and The Cotton Belt. Before that, there were six to eight options... a new Convention Center stop, Farmer's Market. These plans studied for a couple years, put in hibernation ...
