Re: Downtown Dallas: The Drever

Why am I not surprised....and why does Dallas seem to attract such asshat developers compared to other other cities I wonder. Anyway, I bet that is what Drever has been aiming for all along, to finish up the demo work on this, squeeze some bullshit money out of the city, and then flip it to a develo...

Re: North Dallas: Midtown

Good, took the City Damn long enough, like seriously I get government moves slow but it seems like Dallas is always a year or so behind when action should be taken. Hopefully the city beats the shit out of Beck for this in court and is able to simply take the property away from them and sell to owne...

Re: DALLAS to HOUSTON High Speed Rail

Ugh dont even joke about any expansion of that ugly and money sucking behemoth of a convention center that has killed about a quarter of downtown. The original portions of that thing next to city Hall absolutely should be torn down and developed into something else. It just kills the potential of th...

De La Vega Development: Haskell & US 75

Since the Xerox Campus proposal from Trammel Crow is so much different than the dense urban project of De La Vega and are two projects right next to each other yet on the same thread, I created a new thread to discuss this development and not the utter POS suburban garbage TC wants to build next to ...

Re: Cityplace East: ACS/Xerox redevelopment

What a shit show and I hope this POS dies in a fire. I will make a separate thread for the De-La Vega development as we will get the two confused all the time and it is so different that I think it warrants its own thread.

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Yeah, the only East coast city that I ever thought was a threat to Dallas was Atlanta...maybe Philly but Dallas and Atlanta both had it beat in many of Amazon's important factors. If it is DC, it is only because Bezos wants to be there, and this was a farce. From a business standpoint having a prese...

Re: Trinity River Park

Really the natural meandering river with maybe a park extended from one of the banks but still raised to avoid flooding will probably be what happens, with likely a return of the multiple urban lakes ideas in conjunction which really wouldnt be bad, so long as they also planted the necessary trees. ...

Well it can be a bad sign, it might be unrelated. Never under-estimate simple politics, or the desire to move to the private sector.

Re: 1700 Pacific

That is actually impressive to accomplish given this hot market, and that building is actually pretty nice from what I remember.

Though if you arent doing any renovation, there is your problem. This building needs a new owner or we will have ourselves another Drever, just without asbestos.

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Not to mention, it may even make the city consider tearing down parts of our uselessly oversized convention center that are not needed and taking up prime real estate. This is truly the strangest hobbyhorse of the Dallas urbanism crowd- There's plenty of "prime real estate" in the form of...

Re: Trinity River Park

I think the focus should be on supporting a reWILDing effort between the levees. I've never understood why we would try anything other than this. It floods and leaves a ton of mud and debris behind which then has to be cleaned up. All of that costs money and once its cleaned up it could happen agai...

Re: Arts District: The Spire Mixed Use Project

Here is how extra stupid this gets....they could just simply sell the damn land and still make a profit. They arent going to be attracting anyone to develop as clearly no one trusts them and they cant manage it in the first place. Hell they could hold on to part of the land if they really want to ge...

Re: Arts District: The Spire Mixed Use Project

Of fucking course they are. Seriously is there a mechanism other than simple eminent domain that the city can just take this land from these Asshats? There isnt even need for a parking lot on this land and they are in one of the hottest markets in the US and cant even get condominiums built....I mea...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I want the Smart City location right next to City Hall. It redefines the CBD, is close to the up and coming Cedars, close to the high speed rail location, and would likely create the momentum to put a deck over the Canyon portion of I-30 to fully connect downtown with the Cedars. That would truly tr...

Re: Trinity River Park

Is there any real update on this ? I mean the standing wave is being removed, and the Toll road was killed last year. The core of engineers already approved the design for the park that doesn't have the toll road in it years ago, so everything should be ready to go. Then on top of that 6 months ago ...

Re: Cityplace East: ACS/Xerox redevelopment

Wow this is very surprising and unexpected. It sure would be great if Perot would get off of his ass and build Something on that land in downtown that is better looking than that ugly ass glass cylinder he teased us with a while back. Hopefully the FAA doesn't do the usual and try to kill it. And th...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

What? Amazon does pay taxes, fox news (a registered entertainment network in court) and Trump aren't reliable sources of information. So, how about the Securities and Exchange Commission instead? "Additionally, in its latest annual report to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Amazon said i...

This plan looks promising, if a little too hopeful, but I'll take it. That mall is fast on its way to being what happened to valley view. But please let's stop with the nonsense that this is a site for Amazon. Its not. If anyone bothered to read any of the requirements, of which Plano as a whole doe...

Blue Star Land has filed plans with Frisco — three more office buildings at The Star, say DBJ and DMN, 7 to 12 stories tall. Believe it or not, they’re not for Amazon. https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/2018/03/13/blue-star-land-plans-office-space-star-in-frisco.html Well Frisco (and Plano or ...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Here is something to consider.. Do we think Dallas having a high speed rail to Houston and potentially Ft. worth, Austin and San Antonio with the planned station right next to downtown is a major advantage or factor that Amazon is taking into consideration? Or is it such a unique thing to America th...

Ah I liked that place but yes, Al was a turd. I do want the part scene in uptown to get toned down a bit but not die altogether, nothing wrong with having multiple party districts and I do lie Deep Ellum and Uptown having completely different styles. Henderson aveneue and Greenvile Ave will continue...

I think you are all forgetting the huge development potential spots for an HQ2 along the Trinity owned by Matthews southwest which is right where the high speed rail terminal will be. Not only that, the NCTCOG also just announced the building of water gardens all throughout that area along with fina...

Part of that vision is already moving forward actually. The Water Gardens project down in the Cedars is moving ahead with NCTCOG money already. Isn't there a plan to decommission and remove those jails? If I had to guess, those jails will be gone before anybody has to see them out of their nextdoor windows, which may say as much about this project's prospects as it does about the jail's longevity. Seriously, this. That damn jail needs to g...
