Re: Oak Cliff Progressing

I can't remember where I saw them, but at one point plans for apartments were submitted for that site. I think it was a UDPRP submittal for review and discussion, but I can't find them now. Basically is was a 4 story building taking most of the lot. Looked decent from what I remember.

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

The graphics you mention are pretty out of date and the project has grown in scope since those were done. Based off the article the current phases are as follows: Phase 1: the buildings on both sides of bishop from Melba to 9th. On the east side of Bishop, it's just the initial building adjacent to ...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

...extending a conversation from the Oak Lawn thread, do any of these new deals in Bishop Arts/Oak Cliff include a gay bar? Actually, have the blue laws been scraped away enough to allow bars? I get a headache just trying to understand how a bar can operate in Oak Cliff, but this blog does a good j...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

I believe part of the Nazerian/Exxir rezoning case involved allowing bars, but I can't specifically remember if that was the case or not. The only other bar that is supposed to be coming is "Tiny Victories" which is a pretty smallish bar slated for TyPo. Not sure if that has gone anywhere ...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

Amazon may have dropped a clue about its new headquarters https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/amazon-may-have-dropped-a-clue-about-its-new-headquarters/ar-AAuyKsY I really don't see that as being related. Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

Thanks. I googled it, and found their site for anyone else who wants to see it: http://www.bishoparts.com/ Not a whole lot of concrete info there, but you can get a general sense of the master plan for the area. This area will be completely transformed (more than it already has) in the coming years...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

Nice looking project that will also help connect Bishop Arts to Jefferson. I don't really know what rents are currently like in the area, but this price point seems pretty good to me: The new building (pictured at top as viewed from Madison and Ninth) will contain about 40 mostly one-bedroom apartm...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

I've probably missed it, but any word on what that house on the northeast corner is being turned into? That house was a pretty cool little impromptu gathering spot for folks, with the big swing on the tree and artwork on the house. It's my understanding that its part of the Exxir Project. They have...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

Phase 2 is just getting started behind the little artwork plaza they've had there for a while, but you can already tell this will be a much larger structure than 1. They have actually started work at the northeast corner of Melba & Bishop as well. The colorful house has been stripped to the stu...

That CVS actually looks really good and way better than expected. With regards to tenants for Bishop Arts Station (The Alamo Manhattan project), I haven't heard any names on tenants, but it appears they only have two spaces left that aren't leased unless i'm reading it wrong - https://shopcompanies....

I'm guessing dirt will be moving in short order on that one! I hope so! I like it too, though I'm not quite sure how it interacts with the street from those new renders. Looks like there's a field in front of it or something. I think the field is just a visual thing so that they can provide a wide ...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

I'm actually a bigger fan of the new Bishop Highline building, the older design looked a little out of place. If I remember correctly, they received feedback from the city to not have the glass towers on the ends which is probably why those are gone. The building is still nearly all brick with prett...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

This could set the Design District on fire for development as Uptown/Harwood/Victory Park have very limited development sites available (especially after all of this). I was thinking the exact same thing... Even though the VP proposal doesn't call for anything in DD, that area would no doubt become...

Oh boy, what is exactly on the Regional proposal? Is Dallas not submitting one of their own? If not, then they are doomed to pitch boring old suburbia and loose yet again. Morons. Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I may be in the minority, but if Amazon comes to Dallas, it ought to be in or very near Downtown Dallas. Downtown Dallas offers the only 'true' urban environment (and even that, admittedly, is a bit of a stretch - especially compared to other major US cities). Anywhere else in our region would simp...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I think this ends up boiling down to the following four cities: - DFW - Atlanta - Philly - Detroit I know detroit seems like an outlier, but after reading the REP, it seems like the Airport will be a big part of the decision and all four of the cities mentioned are hubs. I've seen Chicago mentioned ...

I actually work in the building next to this (Harwood Center). While I'm never a huge fan of parking decks in general, one is needed pretty badly in the area. Harwood Center can't promise parking to new tenants as all the spaces in its deck are allocated. In addition, anyone wanting a parking spot a...

I recently moved to Dallas from Atlanta and in a lot of ways, Dallas reminds me of Atlanta 10 years ago from an urban perspective. It's remarkable... as much transition and repair happening to Downtown Dallas, with an entire new section of "downtown" sprouted and growing strong (VP/Uptown...

Re: Oak Cliff: Bishop Arts

If the development moves forward, I'd be suprised if it wasn't more substantial now that I've had some time to read a little more on the site and plat. The plat is calling for a consolidation of 4.5 acres which is larger than a typical retailer that size. My guess would be given what they are probab...

If it is indeed Orange Dev, then what people are saying is correct. They mainly do CVS work, so it wouldn't surprise me that if they have it under contract, that is what it would be. Definitely a shame since I love that restaurant!

I've got to say I agree with Cowboyeagle. This area, in fact all of west Dallas/North OC falls into the area of fantastic connectivity. I realize its not Transit connectivity, but Dallas is pretty much still a Car city at this point and will be for quite some time. West Dallas/North OC has so many r...

I'm estatic to see what the Bishop Arts Village project looks like when complete. I'd say that's doubtful unless that was tied to part of the money they received from the city. Power lines are notoriously expensive to bury.
