I don't think that site has enough direct walk-able density to make that model work there even with the $700000. Maybe it should sit idle or become a restaurant. I love the ones downtown but they have a lot more people constantly passing in and out of the store than I think this site would.

The area north of Fitzugh and east of the Katy Trail and west of 75 I think is ripe for large mid and high rise dense development. Could be some perception change but what I keep hearing from people from both coast and Chicago is all taxes taxes taxes. I think that word is getting out more than anything else. They can come here and have more square feet maybe a pool and nice cars on what they save in housing cost and taxes.

Agreed at this rate Austin is building taller buildings all the while having even less density than Dallas does. Until this corporate campus concept goes out of favor I am afraid we are stuck with stubbies.

Oddly if you look at the photo in D magazine it shows a car leaving the building to the street. Not sure where they would even park there they can't go underneath a freeway is down there.

Can't we just do some really nice tree plantings all between the two bridges and along the new trail paths that would bloom in the spring and change colors in the fall. Surely that could be done until we can come up a longer term plan or if we never do then at least it will be pretty and inviting do...

While I am glad to see this project do something at least we will see a nice new wall with some landscaping. Once again I have to wonder about the Oak Lawn Committee and any commitment to dense urban growth if they approved this layout.

Maybe finally West of Turtle Creek towards the tollway will see the high rises start to go up and density increase. I wish the vacant lot at Turtle Creek and Cedar Springs would start as it would go along way to connect that side of Oak Lawn to Uptown.

My favorite aspect about this is that it locked in a permanent structure that compliments and continues the vision for this development. Imagine if something had been built next to the original tower that had nothing to do with that architecture and style.

I used it last weekend. It puts you straight into Harwood district and provides a fairly nice walk to KWP and downtown. A great and needed access to that part of the city from the trail.

Of the other open systems I wonder how they enforce fare payment and freeloaders on their systems. Seems like if we increased our policing DART and enforced and removed people then the perception of safety and cleanliness would go up and increase ridership. There are also non stops to San Jose just to the south of SF. By the time you drive park and go through security to OKC you can almost drive there. That section of 35 moves fairly fast most of the time.

Went to see a movie at Alamo on Sunday and I used to live at the Sears lofts back in 2000. We were pioneers when we moved over there but I always thought the whole area had great potential. A lot has been done but it still needs to have that one big thing happen to make it all pop and come together....

We walk through the entire downtown and urban area and the Arts District old cobblestone sidewalks and lighting and landscape is a real mess. Parts of the sidewalks in front of the Meyerson are unwalkable. Is there any timeline on revamping all of this with the plan??? Falling apart quickly!

Did they ever sign a new lease for what they are going to loose on the Baylor Scott and White move out? That will leave a good portion empty in that building and area.
