I actually have been to both New York locations as well as Chicago and though it never crossed my mind I think North Park might be the best viable spot for Eataly in the Metro. It would draw from the entire region especially on weekends it would be a destination.

Some kind of interesting pedestrian bridge over Field Street would help connect uptown with Victory and also act as a feature for that area. There is not a very friendly way to walk from Uptown to Victory without feeling like frogger.

Beyond the food court I wonder when they will add a hotel or residential tower component or both to the mix. I really think there is a market there for that type of development and it would also make it more urban than just a shopping center.

Went Sunday afternoon and it surprised me how big it was as big as any suburban store and also very nice. Parking was a breeze and ease of shopping and checking out was great. And once again they are going to the Domain in Austin which is not in the urban center and not connected by a train. I am not buying that tech is really interested in those things but only work talent. Even by going to Arlington they did not really select the truly urban area in the center of DC.

I really don't understand the obsession with limiting height in the urban core of the city. We still need tons and tons of more density in the core and the only way to get it there is height. This is not just a Deep Ellum issue.

There is a lot happening around the general Galleria area so I think with this demolished and the area around this growing it will become more lucrative for this development. Also has great connection to both airports with LBJ and the Tollway right there which is important for big companies.

I wonder if the city could pass eliminating parking requirements for transit adjacent projects to spur development and ridership going forward and it would also encourage more urban density in the city. I have seen that some other cities have already done this.

Not to worry I am sure it will be many different incarnations in that space as is happening in other spaces. The commercial owners and brokers just want signed tenants they are not concerned with what might suit the area it is just about their coin.

I never thought it would get built in the first place my guess is that with State involved will delay but it will get done eventually. Visually it certainly is better than nothing at least while we wait for a fix.

There were some plans going around a few years back under different owners that showed midrise apartment building and retail around the base of that building but it never took off. Would love to see that density realized there especially with the DART subway stop.

If all we end up getting is a traffic light at Knight and Cedar Springs I will consider it a success in providing more safety for local residential pedestrians to connect to that Kroger and also to slow the speed of cars on that stretch of road.

Several dense cities around the world have already started re-purposing parking garages into living and work space. I don't see why we can't do that here in the future as self driving, transit and other services take away the desire to have an individual vehicle to get around that sits idle for most...

If you put about 10 times the amount of living available down there you would not see empty restaurants. I don't understand why there is not much more available living space both apartments and townhomes in that area.

Hopefully it will someday have a new DART line going by near there as well. I think this area could really pop if they could get a noticeable building up. Also the bullet train will be coming in near there as well.

She and her husband live in a home in that area and don't want more traffic around there it is that simple. I don't agree with that position and would love to see apartment towers and much more density there but I don't live in that district so my position really doesn't matter.

What is interesting to me is that these giant tech companies all list mass transit as an important part of there deal but Apple Google etc. all go to Austin which has some of the worst traffic and no rail system of any significance. Transit must not be a thing after all.
