Re: Victory Park: The Victor (~453FT / 39ST)

I wish developers in Dallas would master the transition between the private and public realms. The corners of buildings and the associated street intersection present opportunities to blend these spaces in a way that activates the street and that can bring the pedestrian realm “into” the building an...

Re: Victory Park 3.0

IMO North End is the biggest barrier to connectivity between VP and Uptown. Would love to see that redeveloped. I think most of the North End real estate should be turned into a Natural History park. Wow. That is a very interesting idea. That could be a huge draw for the downtown area, but I’m not ...

Re: Arts District: The Spire Mixed Use Project

Yes! Would you please call and talk to the developer, the Arts District and City hall please! This is exactly what needs to happen. That would truly be an international city level move and would do more for downtown than even Klyde Warren park has. Did Spire even throw their hat in the ring? I know ...

Re: Victory Park 3.0

I don’t think VP will be as vibrant as we hope either. I think there needs to be even more residential than is planned. I also think VP needs one or two more regional level destinations to be truly vibrant. Long term, strong, creative pedestrian connections need to be made across I-35....as impossib...

Re: DTD Riverfront Project

The Jail brings nothing but bail bond businesses. I Much rather put it in area that has little potential for revitalization and a low population density. Where it's at now is probably the worst location possible. That's my opinion. But sure move it to midtown. Lol I would say a more accurate chain ...

That's a statement. Just send it down south.

And why should it be near I-20?

Re: DISD Administration Building

It looks nice and contrasting in the renderings. Looks decently Urban. However, I am so sick of almost everything is Dallas being gray or various shades of brown and tan. Ugh. It’s so dull. I think it was Mark Lamster that noted that this Dallas phenomenon smacks of Russian prisons or something to ...

Re: DISD Administration Building

I really don't understand the point of that little sliver of grass that everyone puts between the sidewalk and the street. I get that people want greenery, and I get that having a separation between pedestrians and vehicles is good, but the notoriously narrow strip of grass does nothing to really a...

Re: Downtown Dallas: AMLI Fountain Place (562 FT / 46 ST)

^ I think he was talking about the parking garage under construction behind this site. That parking garage will also be clad in the same green class. That is, if they're staying true to the renders they released. It actually won't look too bad for a parking garage if they stick to the plan. Oh ok. ...

Re: Could Dallas land Amazon HQ '2'?

I’d be more worried about our chances if Downtown Dallas INC and Hillwood weren’t involved. However, I hope the decision makers fully understand the “urban” variables (mobility, connectivity, the pedestrian realm) Amazon is looking for. Many of the decision makers in this region do not partake in th...

Re: Victory Park: Cinépolis /The 23 (~273 FT / 23 ST)

What bothers me about some of the development in Dallas is that too often buildings do not relate well to the pedestrian realm especially at street intersections.

Re: South Dallas: University Hills

I grew up in this area back in the 90s. It was considered one of the most dangerous areas of the city back then. I still wouldn't be caught walking around the streets at night out there today. I'm from that general area too and it was not quite that bad. Certainly other areas of Dallas were worse. ...

University Hills - South Oak Cliff

Why no thread for this huge, transformational project? I couldn't get my Dallas Morning News pay wall. Otherwise, I would've posted the article that ran this week.

Anybody, have any thoughts on this project?

This would be great if located in downtown Dallas along the Trinity in Jack Matthews' project.

University Hills

Why hasn't anybody posted anything about this huge proposed development? This is a huge project and a transformative one at that! I've tried to become a paying member of the Dallas Morning News to get behind the pay wall, but can't get my account setup properly. What's the deal? Nobody cares about a...

Re: Cityplace East: ACS/Xerox redevelopment

Interesting. Seems like the old lighting allowed for a better experience for anyone enjoying the plaza at the foot of the building. From the photo, seems like the plaza is now lit up like a concert stage.

Re: Victory Park: Cinépolis /The 23 (~273 FT / 23 ST)

I so agree. Useless design as is too often the case in Dallas. It's almost like the developers/landscape architects design and build pictures or trophies that are to be admired from a distance and not actually practical buildings or spaces that add value to the Urban fabric. I have always liked that...

Re: Downtown Dallas: AMLI Residential Tower

Height looks good from a distance and all, but I'm hopeful that new towers engage surrrounding streets and adjacent properties in the best ways possible. This will actually add to the urban fabric, create a better pedestrian realm and lead to a healthier tax base as retail would be more likely to th...
