This Italian place looks cool, but was totally empty when I walked by a little after 8pm.

Re: Harwood Int'l District: Harwood No. 8 (New Rolex Building)

Got up close to this one last night. The side facing Harry Hines lacks visual interest from the street level, but once you turn the corner, the sidewalks are wide with trees, and the building is more inviting and interesting. I'm not sure if the surface lot is final or not - the sidewalk here doesn'...

Re: D Magazine New Urbanism Issue

It was good - really bare bones. Just a moderator and different panels for different topics with audience q&a after each panel discussion. There were no presentation visuals, or renderings. It was good to hear from people from the city and different neighborhood organizations like Patrick Kenned...

Re: Victory Park 3.0

It's not noticeable when you first arrive, but after lingering a bit here, you do notice more street life like hotel guests checking out It's Sugar, or people trying out Billy Can Can, people walking their dogs, and your regular runners and joggers. For the first time in a while, I felt excited for ...

There are several public outreach meetings scheduled to talk about the spike in homelessness in the area:

I definitely plan on attending one of these.

Re: DTD: Farmer's Market 1.0

On the Taylor Street side, I saw signs for a floral shop coming in on the far corner, and I believe there's was retail available for one more vendor. On the Pearl Street side, I think there's a Thai place and 2-3 more retail spaces.

The development facing Marilla has a ton of retail space.

Re: DTD: Farmer's Market 1.0

I hope FM gets more retail that stays open a little later once more residential gets completed. Stopped by yesterday evening and it's really quiet in this area. Was happy to see that Green Door Pub was pretty lively though. From the photos, crazy how close The Bridge is to downtown now. It used to s...

Re: Homelessness

Thanks so much for the info. I know housing first has worked really well in other cities, and BC Workshop has helped out with a small village here in Dallas, but that takes a lot of money to start up and sustain.

I'm going to check out the library and see what the experience is like.

From post 117, it looks like they're right on the edge of where the original curb used to be, but in the center once the sidewalk bulbs out.

I forgot which restaurant this is, but the finish it out is really nice (corner of Victory and Museum Way). Once Cinepolis and a few more restaurants open up, I think it's going to feel like West Village 2.0.

Agree with Dpatel. This looks better than the original renderings that had the weird video screen facing Commerce. This could be the focal point downtown has been missing, similar to Sundance Square but on a smaller scale. Right now, downtown doesn't really have a plaza or park with activated retail...

There's a handful of open shops as you near the AAC, but it's overpowered by all the boarded up storefronts. With this shop open, you can kind of get a feel for what VP could be.

Every time I walk past this building I imagine it as apartments. Even though this area of downtown is pretty built up, it's still really quiet. Apartments there with retail at the bottom would be pretty cool.
