I think it is pretty evident with the success of Klyde Warren what the ancillary impact is of burying and covering a highway, even with the comparatively large price tag. One thing I wonder about, though, is would doing that have a large impact on D2 as well as the existing DART rail line through do...

Hopefully the park project will get up and rolling in the next year or two as well. I think there's been a fairly decent track record of downtown parks spurring growth in the immediate vicinity. Even Belo Garden, whether intentionally or not, is a neighbor to the newly-remodeled Westin.

That's a nice view! On a somewhat related note, with the rest of the EQ getting spruced up, I wonder if we'll ever see Salazar Center remove the ugly glass skin which was added back in the '80s. Royal Blue asking for handouts from the city seems pretty lame. I mean, I guess it's shrewd to take free money where you can get it, but it just sends a bad message when it is a pretty high-end grocer.

I don't see them lasting in that spot if they do indeed go forward with it.

I drove by it the other day (prior to the grand opening), and it looks really nice. There are tables and chairs setup underneath the circular structure, which is pretty large.

Wow, yeah that is really lame by Mudhen. There are tons of people at the Farmers Market on the weekends. If you give them a compelling reason to come by (whether from nearby or further out), the people will come.

Maybe it's just a weird angle, but it seems to me like the park is at grade and that the access road on the east side of 35 is dug out underneath the walkway.

For those curious, I just did a calculation off a zip line tutorial, and the Dallas-to-Houston zip line would only need to be about 60,000 feet tall. Totally doable!
