Re: V Bikes: Bike sharing program in Downtown

the "fender" wont protect you from splashes at all. everything about this is so poorly designed. saw one lady riding one on jackson st, they dont appear to have gears she was peddling so fast and going the speed of a light jog. They're single speed and advertised as such. As someone ridin...

Re: V Bikes: Bike sharing program in Downtown

This is a local company that has been very receptive anytime I've reached out to them. Perhaps before we jump on trying to get the city sticking it's fingers into it all neighbors should reach out with their concerns to the company. As someone using these extensively I very much appreciate the fact ...

Re: V Bikes: Bike sharing program in Downtown

Where are the bikes located. Haven't seen any. They are literally everywhere in the CBD. I have seen them locked into bike racks at Thanksgiving Tower, AT&T HQ, near Klyde Warren and around BofA tower. Since they are not setup like the B-Cycles Fort Worth they tend to be just tied to any bike r...

Re: V Bikes: Bike sharing program in Downtown

Hey that's my post! :D So from what I've gathered it looks like this is a company out of Garland, which is great - I love that it's someone local we can suggest/complain at. It looks like they have just done a quiet soft launch, their app and website still need a lot of work, but they've got a good ...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Thanksgiving Tower

Oh really? I thought I read something similar a good while back. It seems to have started up again, the scaffolding and lifts there are new and I've finally seen people on the roof and out front working again. They had an extra lane blocked off to bring in trucks the other weekend too. I see out on ...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Thanksgiving Tower

Ascension Coffee is shaping up really well at the base of the tower and now have hours up. Looks like they'll be open until 10pm Monday-Saturday and until 7pm on Sunday. Looking forward to a nighttime coffee option! The space is pretty large and has ample seating as well. Per Ascension's Twitter .....

That shows just how little you understand the the neighborhood. Parking is probably third only to crime and panhandlers on the list of residents' concerns. Most of the properties -- both residential and commercial -- don't have guest parking. Any visitors have to park on-street on in the paid lots ...

They don't seem to be doing much exterior work at the moment but I see them in there working everyday. There are also now lights on at night in the higher-up floors where it was completely dark a few weeks ago.

Re: Downtown Dallas: Thanksgiving Tower

I heard a rumor that the DART line right there may be buried underground at some point in the distant future and then TGS would be made into a Subway station! I would love for this to really happen... any idea if it's real? Eventually the DART line downtown needs to go underground, but it won't be ...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

^I would say instead that people in Dallas are not going to be walkers within our suburban ways.... correct the environment to be pedestrian friendly and the sidewalks will be crowded with walkers. A cactus wont grow in a swamp and a fern wont grow in a desert. Agreed, the more pedestrian-friendly ...

Re: Deep Ellum 1.0

As for the DART rail, pretty much the only folks who use that to visit Deep Ellum are a handful of families with kids during the day on weekends and the "bad guys" at night. Almost every crime report in the area ends with "The suspects were last seen headed towards the DART rail stat...

There are countless business that make a living off of the two hour lunch period during the weekday. That goes for both urban and suburban. Even out here in Las Colinas, along the Macarthur corridor for instance, you'll find most of the local eateries packed during lunch, but not a soul in site dur...

Just a quick update from the meeting over the Drever the other day: they have confirmed that they're still working on a grocery component for the building, so it has not been cut from the plans.

They're actually working on a 4th car to get it in service at the moment. I think they've been having technical difficulties with one of the existing cars, leading to 2-car service.

Re: DART: Expansion

DART made the right decision not nixing the Cotton Belt. I don't care how overly dramatic Kingston gets, drama doesn't trump logic. Less than 2 years ago, Dallas was great with the Young alignment, and then it became the Jackson aligment, and then it became the full subway alignment. The fact that ...

I'm in the Kirby next to the Drever and have a pretty great view of the terrace. They've torn out all the planters and overgrowth that was there pretty quickly over the past couple of weeks.
