Re: Knox: The McKenzie (~240 ST / 22 ST)

It's been a while since an update on this one. I still like the way it acts as an exclamation point at the north end of McKinney Ave. They light it up at night now (very subtle, just some accent lighting at the top). From the outside, evidence of tenants has begun (there are chairs and bikes on some...

I took these photos of the Highland Park soda foundation building this past weekend. This building truly does need some TLC. I can see why the fountain would have to close in order for the renovations to be completed. Also, it would be very difficult to keep it open while a 12 story building (with u...

I would think that once the city fees were announced, the companies ran the numbers on how many rides they had and deducted the fees. The result was probably a losing proposition so they got out now. Not sure the two left are profitable either. They may be counting on increased demand due to less co...

I don't know if it's abandoned. It seems to me like the demo gets done well before anybody can start actually building new. I have noticed that on a few of the new projects. The large grocery chains with gas always put the "gas station" near a regular store so their customers can have convenient access to use the fuel points. I can't imagine this mini store is much more than a convenience store with a few more staples available, but I haven't been to one.
