Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

The instagram account visitirvingtx just posted a bunch of videos from the (pre?)opening event that the new Whole Foods is hosting right now. Looks pretty nice (as is to be expected for a whole foods). For those that missed it: the grand opening for this location is tomorrow, 9/28. Finally!!

Re: DFW Economy

What do you guys think the effects of Houston's flooding might be on the local economy, short term? I have been looking for housing new the Lovers and 75 recently (The Village), and from what I can gather, vacancy in that area is less than 5pct. Anecdotally, rents in that area have risen ~50 percent...

Re: Las Colinas/North Irving Development

So I'm not sure how deeply to read into this, but there is a small 'now hiring' banner hanging from the whole foods at 161 and macarthur. the site has been empty for the last few months after the ~1 month false start of activity in the spring.

http://dallas.towers.net/2017/03/22/creative-housing-for-creatives-flora-street-lofts/ Stantec and ADD Inc. designed the project and will oversee construction. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter and reach completion in 2020. Nice find my man. Let's hope it's true.

Bumping this one back up - it had a scheduled start date of 'no later than July', as per the DMN article from March. Any movement at the proposed site?

Re: Horseshoe Project: I-35 + I-30 Downtown

I'm not sure if they are going to start construction on the Canyon. I think TxDOT is debating different plans over the Canyon. The options they are considering includes demolishing the Canyon and rerouting 30 altogether. Not sure how that will pan out. But it's something they are seriously consider...

Re: Horseshoe Project: I-35 + I-30 Downtown

I could be wrong, but I believe the Lowest Stemmons Project is going to address some of this problem. ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot-info/ocr/paved/lowest-stemmons.pdf I don't think this Lowest Stemmons project will address the issue that I'm talking about. That project terminates at the north part ...

Horseshoe Project: I-35 + I-30 Downtown

So the project is essentially done as of now. What is everyone's thoughts on the outcome of this project? Generally, it appears to be a major improvement, but there is still one very significant bottle neck that this project appears to have made much, much worse, which is very (VERY) frustrating: wh...

Re: Arts District: 1900 Pearl (362 FT | 25 ST)

I'm sure tenants will love driving in tight circles through 10 levels of parking to get in and out. This is a very annoying feature of some of these new buildings. 1920 mckinney is like this as well. it has something like 7 floors of parking? I go to it's we work location now and then and its such ...

Re: Downtown Dallas: Statler Hotel & Residences + Future DMN Offices (Old Statler Hilton + Old Library)

Amazing to see this project come to fruition. Might not have been what everyone wanted to met the expectations that it originally set out with, but is still fantastic to see it finish out none the less

A new crane went up today right next door to this. Anyone have any idea what it's for? Does it have something to do with the aa center garage improvements?

Re: West Dallas Developments

Great to hear. Quick question - what started the little burst of density at that intersection (Pittman and W Commerce). Was it just Chicken Scratch/The Foundry? It seems like there is a little pocket neighborhood of apartments that has blossomed around that storefront. Is there something else that I...

That design looks like a 60-40 grass to concrete ratio. What's wrong with a simple, green park?

Completely forgot about this one since it took them forever to start one it after they had cleared the land (what was it that they built first again - a dog kennel?) Glad to see that it's well on its way up.

This one is turning out much better than I had anticipated. I remember how much concern we all had because they wouldn't release a rendering. Not saying it's anything spectacular but it's nice enough and I love the height! Definitely agree. Not gorgeous or anything special but definitely a nice add...

Just for a quick comparison, this is what the site looks like on at 1920x1200 res screen, with no zoom options enabled either in windows or in the browser. definitely better, but most of the points still have bearing. Also, there is no easy navigation options to go back once you're within a thread. ...

Site UI, UX and formatting

FIRST THINGS FIRST: Ctroy, thank you so much for getting the site back online. I'm a huge fan of the site and have been a daily user for the last 7 or so years - which I think shows how much value I attribute to the site and its content. That being said (uh oh...), I think there's a good conversatio...
